Regarding the history of multimedia, the 'multimedia' term was created by Bob Goldstein to promote the July 1966 opening of his "LightWorks at L'Oursin" show in Southanpton, Long Island.

During 10th of August in year 1966, Richard Albarino of Variety borrowed the terminology, reporting:
" Brainchild of songscribe-comic Bob ('Washinton Square') Goldstein, the 'Lightworks" is the lastest multi-media music-cum-visuals to debut as discotheque fare."
Two years later the term "multimedia" was re-appropriated to describe the work of a political consultant, David Sawyer. David Sawyer is the husband of Iris Sawyer-one of Goldstein's producers at L'Oursin.

Multimedia' is a media which include the combination of text, audio, images,video, animation, and interactivity content forms according to Wikipedia source. The multimedia tools are derived gradually which start from text, audio, telecommunication devices, video, animation and others. A better tools of multimedia is created due to development of software nowadays.
Future of multimedia
Talking about the future of multimedia, it is extremely important to many fields especially business,education,entertainment and others.Nowadays, many events or activities such as workshop,talk,open ceremony are using multimedia tools. Graphic illustration is use to help students more understanding about one particular subject. Flash animation presentation is use to smooth the talk; multimedia light is use to make people in concert have high spirit.
Use of multimedia in improving the lives of its users
It is definitely multimedia could improve our lifestyle and brings convenience to us.Nowadays,users can know the latest news that happening around the world without travelling. As we know, multimedia application not only available for computer but also in mobile phone. The users could listening to song, watch movies, play online games, browse information,online conversation and others. Multimedia tools could reduce the usage of the paper as multimedia tools are substitute to the paper.
How multimedia influence users in negative ways
However, multimedia might influence users in negative ways. Some of the people might use multimedia inappropriately. For example, some of the paparazzi will use mobile phone or digital camera to record the incident of the famous actor or actress. Thus, the paparazzi will publish in the website, which is ' Youtube'. The reputation of the actor or actress might be affected and their privacy is violated. Some of the people will use the multimedia to edit the picture in order to create a new story and the edited picture will sell it to the paparazzi for gain profit.
Multimedia's shortcomings
Multimedia may cannot reach in certain areas because lack of technology, lack of internet connection or low bandwidth. Thus, some of the people cannot access to multimedia. Smooth transaction of the multimedia content is available if that area is good in technology, excellent internet connection and high bandwidth.

Multimedia is shifting from being localized ( contained on a CD-ROM) to being distributed ( available on the World Wide Web). What are some of the implication of this? who will have access to the presentation? how will you keep it secure? How will you distribute it?
Answer :
If the multimedia data store in a CD-ROM, only the people who has the CD-ROM can access it, whereas if the multimedia data uploaded in the website, people from around the world can access the multimedia simultaneously. Online advertising is much cheaper than advertising on television and other media. Cost of packaging, distributing, production of CD, marketing, expanding the market, location and copyright of the CD will be eliminated. There will be quick customer response if the date can be view in the internet.
To keep it secure, we should put password in the website and install firewall to maintain the security and safety of the website.
The distribution can be done through download or live streaming over the internet.
